Một ngày đẹp trời nào đấy khi các bạn muốn format usb, thẻ nhớ mình thì gặp phải thông báo lỗi như sau: THE DISK IS WRITE-PROTECTED.

Để khắc phục sự cố đó các bạn kiểm tra 2 trường hợp sau:

1. Thẻ nhớ, usb bạn có công tắc gạt để bật chức năng Protect nên không thể format được, cần phải gạt công tắc này về OFF
2. Nếu không có nút gạt chức năng Protect thì có thể máy tính của bạn đã bị nhiểm virus, và nó đã tiến hành thay đổi khóa trong regedit ngăn cấm không cho format. (Đem USB qua máy khác format không vấn đề gì, Format trên máy của mình thì thông báo lỗi như trên thì đúng là bị nhiễm Virus rồi). Cách giải quyết như sau:

Nhấn tổ hợp phím Windows+R và gõ vào regedit

Tìm tới đường dẫn sau:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: 

• Nếu StorageDevicePolicies không có thì bạn cần tự tạo ra nó.
• Sau đó chọn StorageDevicePolicies, nhấp phải và chọn create a New DWORD (32-bit) và đặt tên là  WriteProtect.
• Đặt giá trị cho WriteProtect là 0
• Khởi động lại máy tính và kiểm tra format lại usb thử

This happens when some virus or script which applies the registry hack to make any drive write protect when connected to the computer, In that case follow the procedure below to remove write protection from your pen drive.

WINDOWS XP:

You can remove write protection from your usb flash drive using the below method:

a. Open start menu, in the search bar type regedit and press enter. This wil open the registry editor.

b. Navigate to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Note: 
If the registry key StorageDevicePolicies does not exist, you will need to create it manually.
c. Highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a New DWORD (32-bit) Value named as WriteProtect.
d. Double click the key WriteProtect in the right window and set the value to 0 in the Value
Data Box and press OK button
e. Restart your computer and try copying files into your USB drives.

WINDOWS 7 - 8 - 8.1

Create the key if it doesn’t exist. If you cannot find the StorageDevicePolicies folder, then you will need to create one first. Right-click in the blank space in the Control folder. Select New, and then Key. Label it StorageDevicePolicies.

• Open the newly-created folder and right-click again. Select New, and then DWORD. Name the new file WriteProtect and put 0 in the value field. Press OK.
• You must type each entry exactly, including capitalization, otherwise the key will not work.
